The female choir “Radcliffe” from the Harvard University visited Bulgaria for the first time

The 113 year old female choir “Radcliffe“ from the Harvard university visited Bulgaria for the first time. On the 7th of June 2012 in the American college in Sofia, the choir presented one of its gorgeous concerts. The performance was conducted by the conductor, the director of the choir activities and the senior music lector in the Harvard Andrew Clark.

Radcliffe Choral Society is one of the oldest and famous female choirs in the USA. This choir was chosen to sing on the funeral of the American president John F. Kennedy, in the Mozart`s requiem. For this performance the choir was nominated for the Grammy awards. The prominent American composer and also a conductor Leonard Bernstein, was the pianist of the choir.There are fifty singers that took part in this choir and they reach glory singing songs from nine centuries – from church and popular music of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance to masterpieces of the Romanticism, plays from American composers and also foreign folklore song`s modern arrangements. In front of the audience was performed a master class on Bulgarian folklore. The participation of the Bulgarian singers in this measure was possible, because of the support of the BMS. The Bulgarian and American singers sang together and with no doubt, their meeting will be the start of one good future association.
